Bathroom Renovated in Ohio

Project Overview

We recently completed a bathroom renovation for a family home in Ohio, transforming an outdated and inefficient layout into a bright, modern, and highly functional culinary space. The project included knocking down a partial wall to open up the room, custom cabinetry, high-performance appliances, and premium finishes — all tailored to the homeowner’s lifestyle and local design sensibility.

Project Goals

Open up the layout: Remove obstructive walls to create better flow between kitchen and dining/living areas.

Increase storage: Design cabinets and drawers that maximize space for cookware, pantry items, and utilities.

Upgrade to high-quality materials: Use durable, timeless materials that balance elegance and practicality.

Improve lighting & ambiance: Introduce layered lighting (task, ambient, accent) for both functionality and atmosphere.

Deliver long-term value: Ensure the renovation is a solid investment, with design and finishes that appeal to future buyers.

Challenges & Solutions

• Structural Changes: Removing the wall required reinforcement. We coordinated with a structural engineer and installed a support beam, ensuring stability without compromising aesthetics.
• Permit & Inspection: Since we altered plumbing and electrical layouts, we secured necessary permits in Austin (which can range from $500–$3,000 depending on the scope). austinlifestyleandhomes.com
• Material Costs: Balancing high-end materials with budget constraints was key. We proposed mid-to-high finishes that look premium but provide long-term durability. Cabinetry and countertops were carefully sourced to maximize value.
• ROI Considerations: To deliver a remodel that projects future value, we prioritized cost-effective, high-impact upgrades (like quality cabinetry, lighting, and layout) rather than overly luxury features that don’t always pay off at resale.
